What I’m Talking About is Bigger.
My amazing IGNITEyouth friends I’ve got something to say. When haven’t I really?
So what am I busting to talk about? L.O.V.E. Everybody say awwwww.
The love I want to talk to you about is not puppy love, or high school crush love, or even the way you love you favorite band. Not the love you have for your grandma or the way you love your phone. What I’m talking about is bigger.
Not the love you feel for your little sister and your Mum. Not the love you have for your brother or your Dad. What I’m talking about is bigger.
I don’t mean the way to love your best friend or even the way you love your cat. What I’m talking about is bigger!
Not the way a husband loves a wife or a fat kid loves cake. What I’m talking about is BIGGER!
I’m talking about real love. I’m talking about self sacrificing love. I’m talking about with all we are… love.
A love that drove a father to sacrifice his son.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)
A love that lasts.
Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever (Psalm 136:26).
A love that is always ours.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39).
A love that covers all.
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4-5)
I’ve been thinking a lot about this love. Here is what I have concluded. God’s love is, cool, amazing, wonderful, awesome, powerful and real. It covers all our sin, it is more than enough for us, it brings us to or knees, it lifts us out of despair. It is perfect. It is kind and generous. It is forgiving. It keeps no record of wrong. It protects and trusts. It never fails.
And then it hits me. God’s love is all of those things and then some. It is bigger. God has a love for you and I that we could never understand. We try and try but it is just so BIG.
Then comes the best part, he wants us to love him back. We might not deserve it but because of what Jesus did it is ours. So IGNITEyouth, my newest challenge? Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind. And know He is waiting for you saying:: I love you.
